I am a cancer survivor who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999. Stunned by the news, feeling the ground had just been taken out from underneath me, I found help and strength by other women who had walked this path. I was treated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and endocrine/hormonal treatment. During the time of treatment, I came to realize I was not just about the disease – I was so much more, and I learned to take charge of my own wellbeing.
This experience inspired me to use my nursing and coaching expertise to work with other women, and men, diagnosed with breast cancer. I know full well how important it is to feel confident about being cancer free, yet realize the concern never fully dissipates.
I obtained my nursing degree from Wesley- Passavant School of Nursing at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois in 1979. I am a Board Certified Integrative Nurse Coach through the American Holistic Nurse Association, and trained by the International Nurses Coach Association (INCA). My teachers were and are Barbara Dossey PhD, RN, HNC, FAAN, HWNC-BC , Susan Luck MA, BS, RN, HNC, CCN, HWNC-BC, and Bonney Schaub RN, MS. PMHCNS-BC, NC-BC. Additionally, I obtained a certificate from the International Nurse Coach Association and the Institute for Functional Medicine in Advanced Clinical Nutrition in an Integrative Nurse Coaching Practice.
When you arise each morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. ~ Marcus Aurelius
